Oh What A Wonderful World

Oh What a Wonderful World
“Finally! Bin Laden has been annihilated by our bad ass army! Let’s go riot the streets like madmen and celebrate his death, oh wait…don’t we already do that anyways in this country? Who cares, this is the happiest day ever!”…..NOT!
This ladies and gentleman, is why the U.S. is hated amongst many countries throughout the world. Who’s to blame them though? We as citizens of the U.S. get mad and upset at the fact that terrorists and anti American forces celebrate each time we have a downfall, but we are hypocrites in that sense.
For God’s sakes, yes I know Osama was presumed head on organizing the 9/11 attacks and killed thousands of innocent people and left families in distress, but yes be happy justice has been brought finally, but don’t act like idiots and throw a whole parade over his death, that makes us just as bad as those middle eastern countries celebrating our defeats.
If peace is to happen in this world, the chain of hatred that we’ve had going on since the beginning of time needs to be broken by at least one person. Truth is, there are many people that assume the world of breaking the chain, the only thing is that the chains bonds of hatred and deception grow each day and cause a self healing effect that makes one single act of kindness immune against it.
I may not personally understand how impactful Osama Bin Laden’s death is to many in this country and I pay my respects to those people affected by his actions, but still, when you see people on the streets shouting like psychopaths and crying tears of joy because a man is dead, I mean that’s pushing it a little bit don’t you think?
All of this at the same time seems pretty fishy. Is Osama even dead? The press has yet to show concrete evidence that he has been killed, and if he is dead, many of his followers are probably pretty pissed off and seeing Americans cheer on his death will only cause them to explode and guess what……another attack on us will more than likely happen with greater force and the fact that we are not hand in hand with Egypt and Libya and some middle eastern countries doesn’t help at all.
If we keep at it, we will all be in peace, once were dead which would be bad for we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the world and its beauty like we were meant to.

"Stand Up!" Video

In my personal opinion, the hazing of homosexuals everywhere in the world is not an acceptable thing. Homosexuality is not natural and it is not a good thing, but you have to respect those that are homosexual and just mind your own business, and not abuse them physically or mentally. I mean, some may have had a rough life that caused dramatic effects in their psychological behavior, or some might do it just for choice, but to go and harass someone because they're homosexual is as bad as behaving like a racist. Homosexuality, in my opinion, is not acceptable based on my beliefs, but you should still respect they're decisions. The one thing that dumbfounded me about this video was the fact that in a way it seemed to promote homosexuality as a subliminal message, like saying its okay to come out, be proud to be gay, or along the lines of that, and i mean if someone is going to make a video about peace, stick to the stop abusing homosexuals part, and don't try and put in something like its okay to be gay, all in all in my opinion, this is not meant to harm or to attack anyone whatsoever.

Memo

Date: February 12, 2011
To: English 1311 Students
From: Miguel Quintana
RE: Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia

The power of music and its effect in society is underestimated among many people all around the globe.  The harmony among a single tune brings people in and for a split second, a melody of peace is sung. There aren’t many organizations in the world to bring help and aid to those in pain and in need of guidance to become better people that use music as a means to bring forth a final harmony among our society. To set forth a right path in the lives of the people they cross, these men of music change the way thousands of people live, through the sound of a simple melody. This organization brings forth morally upright men entrusted to advance music in America, not just for the keeps of it, but to unite and guide people into better lives, for we live in a corrupted, lunatic society were morals that once existed have been destroyed, and were our actions have fallen to the lowest of the low.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a national music fraternity very different from any other fraternity out there. This fraternity does not fall under any stereotypical views adopted by society of fraternities being wild and crazy, Phi Mu Alpha is a brotherhood of men brought together by their love of music, and as Sinfonians, and they have a mission that includes the uplift of mankind. This fraternity teaches men to develop themselves into morally upright men and to develop their musical skills not for the sake of music itself but as a means of enriching others lives. This organization has left a mark in America ever since the late 1800’s, and has kept on making changes in this country by advancing music in America to help the youth of today get involved in this activity instead of them being in the dark. This organization has many community outreaches towards our society and forms itself as a model figure.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity spreads music through activities such as singing to the elderly at hospitals and nursing homes, to going to child crisis centers and bringing music to those children I need there. Now, you might be thinking, what does any of this have to do with peace or what not? As a member of this fraternity, I can truly say music makes a world of a change. It brings smiles to those that are lost and hate the world and reminds those that are lonely that they are not forgotten. Many Sinfonians are professors at all level levels of education, and they make the effort to bring children in and discover in them music so that they will not lead a path astray.  Sinfonians are model figures for those that wish to follow in the right footsteps, they are leaders and men. Society is corrupt, there is malevolence in every corner, it is only through an abstract way that these men lead their lives and enrich the lives of others. Music is the voice of the soul, and it is what truly brings momentary peace, even it is for a tenth of a second. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia has more information available on their website sinfonia.org.

The Guy in Asia Video

The man in the video ( whose name i cant remember), made excellent point of the fact that we should focus on the education of children and guiding them away from the violence so that one day they will be able to find solutions on how to deal with our corrupted war. The only thing I didn't agree with him was that he stated that we should stop fighting terrorism and focus all our attention on education. I understand he said that with peace in mind, but the United States right now is a great target for many countries put there that don't like our country for various reasons, and if we don let our guard down and stop fighting terrorism, many people in our country would end up suffering deaths and our country would fall in the hands of strangers. Again, i may have misunderstood what the guy was trying to say when he said that, but this is what i got out of it.

Peace Free Writing

Humans are incapable of understanding each other, we seek peace according to our own sense of what we believe is justice, and once we think we've established peace, another will come and destroy what was temporary peace under their drive for vengeance which they will think is just. If there's justice in vengeance, the only thing that will happen is peace will be present shortly and the justice we thought was righteous will only breed more vengeance and cause a never ending cycle of hate. Then how will peace ever prevail in our world? Peace will never capture the hearts of humans for right now at this very moment, there is a war ongoing, smack being talked, people getting murdered, a shop being robbed, a person getting physically and verbally abused.....etc. Evil is in every corner and is waiting to harness the souls of many wanderers. Our goal as a civilization is to create peace and bring about justice, but how will we do that if we cant even bring justice and peace in our very own homes and within ourselves?
